The Sheriff’s Office Animal Control Deputies administer domestic animal control with many duties. These services include picking up stray domestic animals and loose livestock. Attempts are made to reunite lost animals back to their owners. These deputies must enforce local and state law pertaining to animals. They often investigate animal cruelty cases and livestock depredations by domestic animals. Animal bite reports are handled by animal control as well.

Healthy, adoptable cats and dogs are euthanized each year in Rockingham County because there simply are not enough homes for them all. Help end the euthanizing of innocent dogs and cats by reducing the number of unwanted births by making sure that your pet can’t have puppies or kittens. You’ll have peace of mind that his or her offspring won’t be euthanized in an animal shelter if you spay or neuter your pet.
